Although i miss driving a petrol i'm happy with my choice of the 90 hdi seeing as i get anywhere from 58-64mpg (58 if i put my foot down a bit and 64 if i drive like a granny lol). The only downside's for me are that it sounds like a tractor with the windows down and needs a bit more gear changing at low revs, as it's my first diesel it has taken awhile to get used to lol.Suzuki Rgv 250, Cruddy Corsa, Cruddy Astra, 56 Corsa D, 09 Fiesta Mk7, 59 Fiesta Mk7, 10 Swift Sport, 11 DS3 Hdi White Edition >> 61 DS3 e-Hdi Dstyle Plus Sport Yellow with corroding bellone's as standard<<

Have now covered 500 miles since picking up my petrol THP DS3 a couple of weeks ago. I am taking it easy for the first 1000 miles. Drove from Stoke to Wiltshire with no hold ups, mostly Motorway and A road at 65mph. Brimmed the tank at Stoke and then a couple of days later. Pulled 55mpg according to the DIS and 52.5 according to the next fill up.
I recognise I was driving conservatively and that helped the mpg. What I like about the petrol is the greater flexibility, i.e. a much smoother and more responsive engine. If you want many mpg's then mid 50's appears very acceptable if you are prepared to drive at the speed limit and no more. If you want to 'exercise' a little more the petrol is without a doubt the engine to give you the smile factor, which if you consider the car in sport mode it is what it is all about. My hubby is a Diesel fanatic but he concedes, on this car, we made the right choice. Try them both, we did and the petrol, for us, brings the car alive, it is a great engine.

Getting more excited now - my THP (also from Citroen Derby...) is on the way and good to hear it can pull off decent MPG on a run.
I'm guessing a lot of it is down to the gearing? My old 55 reg Mini Cooper S would do OK mpg on a run, whereas my current Mazda 3, which doesn't have a 6th, can't do better than 33 mpg even driven carefully.
Does the THP rev quite low in 6th at about 70?

50 plus out of a car capable of 0-60 in just over 7 seconds (however conservatively you're driving) is nutterly good!
Glad you love it! My other half hasn't even seen the car yet! She leaves all car things to me (mind you I do pay for all of them, she just drives them!).....so I'm hoping she'll smile when I turn up in a Sport Red DSport Plus (petrol) on Thursday! She's not having it though! I wonder if the leather might seduce her and she'll want that in her next 4x4! Oh happy times!

I'll know the answer to your question on the revs after Thursday when I can finally 'test' it! I can guess it must rev quite low to get the mpg people are getting!
