If you look at pics of LHD cars, the platform to the left of the clutch pedal is wider than on RHD cars. The Citroen footrest works fine on LHD cars - but they have not seen fit to produce a narrower version to fit the RHD cars. If you buy one, as HerbyDS3 did, you will find that it is too big, and that it overlaps the platform.

So, my take on this is, why waste your energy arguing that you should have been given a footrest that doesn't fit anyway! Inevitably you will be met with the standard disclaimer, as DaveB and Mr-T have pointed out, so it's not worth wasting your breath.

In time, someone will produce an after-fit footrest that DOES fit the RHD models, and that'll be one to go for. You'll probably have to wait until hell freezes over for Citroen to produce one.

Sorry if this sounds negative - just injecting a dose of realism.

Hmm.. Found this on the DS3Spirit forum..

That's a picture from the car in the dealership too.

As such they cannot argue it is out of date and no longer standard spec for the car.

I pick my car up on 1st September and will be straight on to Citroen for a footplate - followed by trading standards IF they refuse.
Well did you get yours? And if not have you been in touch with your local Trading Standards Dept yet?

I've had the responses back from my Citroen dealership and from Citroen UK and both were not encouraging. My dealership politely suggested that as I got a good discount on my DS3 that I would have to buy one if I wanted it at £65 plus. This turned out to be duff infornation as Citroen UK subsequently confirmed that the left hand drive part doesn't fit right hand models as has already been pointed out here. And that was about all they said other than thanks for pointing out the brochure is misleading and that we will now fix it to stop any other complaints! If I can be a****d I may take it up myself with local TSD but I don't think it will wash with them either. Incidentally although some have said that the DS3 brochure definitely gives the impression that it comes as standard in the car (albeit a left hand drive picture I beleive) I haven't actually seen it for myself. Would you or anyone know exactly which DS3 brochure we are talking about here (there are few on the market I think) and whether there is .pdf version anywhere that I could pass on to my local TSD so they can see it first hand so to speak.

Not sure Trading Standards are going to get terribly excited about this one. I'd have thought they've got bigger fish to fry with the motor trade, especially after the recent reports on what a rip-off (and how cr*p) much routine servicing work is.

It's in ALL brochures. Got to the DS3 website and download the brochure then view page 11. I was unaware there may be a fitting problem. I contacted Citroen quoting their brochure and they said they had ordered me one from my dealers who would contact me for fitting when they got it. They said this was as a gesture of goodwill. Job sorted, they have been perfectly reasonable - no need for trading standards. IF it transpires it don't fit I'll let you all know.

I think you'll regret fitting this, if you do.

Since my White arrived last week, and I guess this is the reason it's left off RHD cars, the one complaint I have is that the clutch pedal and foot rest are too close. I'm constantly catching my left foot on the foot rest when clutching.

By all accounts that would be even worse with the plate fitted.

Exactly so. There's far more space to the LH side of the clutch pedal on LHD cars, as the photo posted above by DF shows.

To be honest the brochure does NOT show a RHD DS3 with the foot rest, yes there is a pic with a glimse of a foot rest but you can see that it's from a LHD car. The spec list also not not mention it either. Okay the website does make a gaff, but the centre dash does not come in grey as shown and the clock are the worst Photoshop i've seen in a while.

Im sure I have written this somewhere else on here but I cant find it anywhere. I mentioned it to my dealer and they looked into it, and said it was not standard on the UK spec and gave me one, but said I would have to fit it. It took me 5 minutes. I didnt bother with the drill, i just screwed it straight in and voila! I got the position it should be in out of numerous car magazines I collected whilst going through the waiting for my car ordeal.

For clarification for anybody who doesn't know, the reason is as follows if it makes sense:

The french only made the car to be a left hand drive and didn't intend on making it for the UK, therefore they only had the fitment on the french cars. When citroen then decided to sell the cars in the UK they didnt bother to change the spec or the broshure and its caused all sorts of problems for the dealers. If you wish to have it like gareth has then i'm pretty sure if you ask and display the booklet they are bound to give it to you =].

                          Helped?

                          :Thom:.
