I believe that to be hitting the stated combined mpg for the THP (42.2mpg) you should be getting approximately 445 miles to a tank

No, in all other respects it's quite normal. Starts fine, no smoke, not lumpy etc. Sometimes it goes really well too. Has plenty of torque. Sounds very harsh though and the pinking noise is most prominent when it's not on full boost, that seems to quieten it down somewhat.
I reset one of the mpg displays today and it showed 42 mpg, which in real terms is about 38 on mine. Ambient temp is up so the MPG should've improved really.

My HDI is averaging 56.4! I have been guilty of some hard acceleration since purchase but when I do drive more sensibly I get 60. That's with a mix of road and motorway driving (more road than motorway).

I have a 90HDi and I only get about 48mpg(claimed 70) at best but that is because of town driving.

If I took it on country roads I get 65mpg+ easily. It all depends where and how you drive it.

HDi 110 are only meant to get 60 mpg.

Is that city driving or mostly motorways etc?

This morning it showed 36.6 MPG, so probably about 32 ish. Piss poor really.

Jen - was your mpg lower when the car was new?

Something's definitely wrong there. The only way I can get that kind of mpg is by resetting the counter and flooring it, but after I have put in some miles it quickly creeps back into the late forties.

My HDi 110 readout said I was getting 59mpg but that was 480 miles out of a tank (40ltrs to full) and that works out at 54.5mpg on manual calculation, quite a bit less than the readout. I guess anything over 50mpg is good, but still disappointed as I have been driving really carefully and most of my journeys are 30+ minutes with A roads taking up a majority of them.
I reckon I'm going to go below 50mpg once I start driving 'normally'.
The car is 18 months old with 25k on the clock and I suspect may have been thrashed by previous owner. Getting better than 36.6mpg at least though!

I use to get 30-35 mpg but that's cause I had a half flat tyre for a year but I also noticed I get more mpg after 6-7000 miles

Why did you go a year without checking your tire pressure Rick?

I had a nail in it so it was slowly deflating... Just didn't want to get it repaired lol....
