We will be employing a new member to the team very shortly, don't worry I won't be getting my hands too dirty still.

He'll be a walnut blasting specialist in no time...

Is it cheaper if I supply my own walnuts?

Depends on the quality of the walnuts mate, are they more than a handful ?

This Walnut blasting equipment is going to be a good investment if you believe the comment I have from Citroen's local distributor on the problem.

As discussed the recent repair work performed on your vehicle at McCarrolls is as a result of soot like deposits within the intake of the engine. The deposits were removed in order to restore the performance of your engine.

The deposits are characteristic of some modern internal combustion engines and from time to time may require a cleaning.

Back to the days of cylinder head decoking and bore honing every five years or so like we used to do?

No easy answer from what Jamie has posted, some cars are effected at maybe 10k, some not as bad at twice that. Too many factors for a definitive answer.

I'd say 20-25k it would need doing for sure.

Is carbon build up a problem on the VTI engines? Sorry if it's a silly question, just not sure if the non turbo, vti engines are direct injection, also?

Is the only way to check for carbon build up to remove the intake manifold?

What is the main reason of this? Is it about fuel quality?

There's quite a lot of info on these engines on the forum

Carbon build up on intake valves(THP)

I've got a feeling that either my fuel pump is on the fritz or that I've got a fair amount of carbon build up, however I took it in to Citroen the other day and they ran some diagnostics and took it out for a drive and found nothing wrong.

I know there's something going on as it's very lumpy on idle tickover. There's no loss of power at all, however, I've only had it 2 weeks so I don't know what it was like from new.

                                It's a year old and done 16k.

How can I get them to take it more seriously? Told em that I'd read it could either be carbon build up or fuel pump but unless they find anything, what can I do?

If I take it to SP Tuning, would that void my warranty? There's another 2 years left.

A trip to SP is pretty ideal for me as I'm Leicester. How much would it be to check it out and, if it turns out to be carbon, a blast?
