Thanks Fabian. It was your good advice earlier in the year that I bought a BASTUCK
The sound in low revs, and accelerating round town (30-40mph) is really nice. Just right
There are a couple areas that when you put your foot down it is quite loud- but not so bad you have to stop accelerating:
60mph accelerating in 3rd, and faster on the motorway in 4th and 5th where the noise for a second or so is really loud, and on the rolling road at anything between 100-125mph its quite loud too.
Overall I love it. I could buy a mid silencer for not much money as I have asked them, but then I am worried it will be to quiet!!!
So very happy with the exhaust. Rather add a silencer, than have one and take it away.
If you drive carefully you can make sure it is not loud. Its quite good fun trying to keep the tone right. Petrol consumption jumped from 40 up to 45 miles on motorway as average.
I must replace my downpipe too- waiting for options to be advised to me
OK thanks Chris.
Will follow your thread and let me know when you're replacing the downpipe.
I'm very curious how the sound will be with the Downpipe and without the Centre Silencer!
The standard cat and intercooler, with remap, dif turbo etc are good enough to dispatch any Vauxhall Corsa VXR lol. You could probably squeeze 230-235bhp out of the standard cat/IC before having to change them.
So are you saying that in your opinion you dont feel theres a reason to swap out the standard Cat with a sports cat, for performance reasons Dave?
Most of the discussions I have had, on and off the site suggest that the restriction on the standard, and back pressure associated really affects performance- the exhaust I have is 63mm and the standard Cat is no doubt much less? Common sense would suggest a sports cat, with a 100 or 200 cell structure?
Even if performance isnt greatly increased, surely the engine/turbo wouldnt labour as much, so lasting longer and being more efficient. Just trying to think through
What dave has said is true about the car but I don't know about 230 to 235, I would have said slightly lower. Will it make flow better- yep but is it critical in your tuning when you're not even producing over 210? Nope. It's one of those things, it will help your engine but not in a major way til you hit x power levels. Right now the only person who really needs one is ds3r.
It won't do your engine any harm, you just won't see any massive gains til you tune alot further.
As for the intercooler then on this one I have to disagree with you Dave. The limiting factor on the stock turbo is intake temp. My turbo is currently boosting at 30psi and can't move that since intake temp gets to around 68. Better intercooler will drop that allowing more. Alternatively I could put a different, larger turbo on but that costs more. So next step for me is better intercooler, then exhaust, then hybridized turbo and then a sports cat.

HHHmmmm- back to my thinking mode- but will prob head for a Sport cat
I dont need no crystal ball if you get my drift
(Dave- get to Southend later and tell me all bout it- we should be there several hours) CBLUE

This is completly wright!!
But.... Why replacing the standard downpipe?!
The standard downpipe + Cat can probably work up to 230hp but is very restrictive.
Restictive in the way of words that it will stress the Turbo.
If you have a better flow, the turbo won't be stressed that much and you can reach the same performance with lower boost levels.
This ensures that the turbo will last longer.
Sorry, forgot to mention that I know (via the French DS3 forum) that Milltek is developing an complete exhaust for the DS3
Probably including the downpipe and sports-cat!
