Chris, just do what YOU want to do. It's everybody's own choice!

Only thing you need to ask him is about why 57mm.

57mm on a car without turbo is good enough to flow about 190hp.
With an Turbo engine you want as less backpresure as possible to let the turbo flow as fast as possible.

Don't know your future plans, but when you want to get over 200 / 210hp, you need to go to 63mm.
If you want to stay around 190 / 200hp you can go for the 57mm

Exhaust on a DS3R is already 60mm I can tell you.

And yes, go for a backbox and not only a straight pipe from front to back.
You want to have an exhaust, not an Scaffold pole

      No worries Fabian- thanks
Will see how much POWERFLOW (Or pro-speed, or longlife) can do a 60mm with back box

I think the MECH said the pipe (Flex?) immediately behind the CAT looked smaller than 60mm- that why he said was a waste time upping a cat back system to 63mm- does that make sense? - cant get under and have a look me. Draw the line somewhere without a hoist or something

And to get above 210bhp you would need a sports cat? Not going that far I dont think

RAAIN- Thats why I like all the banter and comments
Always someone knows better , or different, than me- or what Ive been told
          Like fitting a jigsaw together
          Why I take my time
Now i need to know what size the pipe is the immediate backbox side of the catalytic converter
If thats makes sense?- believe its a flex but not sure

Like a chain thats only as strong as its weakest link!

Really depends on any other mods you're looking to do. I'm pushing ~215 with NOS activated but with the standard CAT. It's next on my list after the intercooler.

Pushing temporary boost via NOS is a bit different than running an engine at a set power rating

I wasn't disputing that. I was advising Chris that you don't need a sports cat to reach over 215hp, although it would help.

Oh god yeah- if you're going that high you must be able to get rid of exhaust gas better- the engine will end up sounding choked otherwise...thus me getting one lol

FISH says existing Cat can get to possibly 215BHP ? (And I am assuming this is existing/stock pipe THP)
Fabian says over 200bhp you need 63mm pipe
If you get to 215BHP with existing cat and pipe, then does that mean that existing pipe will get to 215, making Fabian a little off the mark?
The POWERFLOW bloke said it looked like the stock THP could be 50mm in places (note he said looked like)
Please dont get me wrong- I am not trying to score points or upset anyone here- just understand the exhaust thing
Am going to get a POWERFLOW quote for bigger pipe anyways- then can always change the flex pipe/ exit manifold if needed, if I go for 63mm
But if 57mm gets to 210-15 which I may go for in the future , will go for 57mm
Cant see me ever going to dizzy heights or over 210-20BHP

Chris so you know the flex pipe is part of the exhaust pipe not the cat / downpipe. As to go figures it's not an exact thing. Saying a little over 200 and 215 might as well be the same. No matter what you choose with a turbo exhaust bigger is always better. You may not think you will go to high hp but power is addictive. Once you have some you always want more

Fair point CYCLONE- understand what you say
Spoke to Custom exhaust people today and he said words to the effect he cant do a good job on 63mm as its not easily bent
He said something bout cut and shut but it would be messy- I said no
Have sent couple enquiries to other manufacturers and they aint got back
So at the mo- Its BASTUCK 63mm, or Custom 57mm at 40% cheaper
