The Nerd gets a Custom Remap

Been looking forward to this for a while and I wasn't let down thank god!

And the results I'm hearing you ask? Well, I'm happy in that straight off the road the graph is:



The limiting factor right now is the intercooler- I also took a vid but it's rather dull- intake temp is getting upto around 60, drops quickly but edging on being a bit high. They reckon there's more than enough boost left in the turbo to take it up another 16-18HP with an intercooler. Guess what my next purchase will be? lol. I'm most impressed in the gain in torque and the evening out of the curve- god was it lumpy beforehand.

Was it worth it? Can you tell the difference? DAMN RIGHT YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All that's left is to check any gains on 0-60 time using torque pro and a flat road lol

The torque increase is fantastic eh? Talk about nice pulling through corners with an extra 50. I did scare the poor lad shitless when he asked me take it for run to see if I liked it. I did warn him to hangon though. Some poor guy in an MX5 got overtaken doing 110 lol. I slowed so he could catch up then dropped to 3rd and left him standing again...bless hehe

The guys loved doing the engine. They tried starting with a cooper s map to compare things and they said that even although the engine is the same the map is completely different TOTALLY different he said! So they worked up from the stock map and got to where it is right now- 5 hours of work for them. I'm going to give it a few days (to bed in) and check the intake temperatures under load on torque again, if they are have dropped again I'll take it back in and they'll adjust it slightly to compensate to take advantage of the lower temp.

Just wish my Dad would stop texting me now to ask if he can have a turn

You also have to remember that the actual BHP of the THP is not 155 or 156 as some sites say. Through some searching I found out the actual BHP is 148. These guys dyno is spot on because when I was up there last week it rated it spot on on both in the standard torque and BHP. When I ran it last week it was getting 147.1 average, yesterday was lightly higher bit only because I started using v Power and had put a panel filter in. there was also a 5 lb/ft gain over the week before because of the filter and v power.

But 50 lb/ft gain in torque and a 44 odd gain in BHP is bloody marvellous. My Dad was home and came along- he's a very old school engineer and wanted to see the process and his jaw nearly hit the deck when he saw the gains. They also showed him some of the other stuff they do on diesels especially for fuel efficiency- gob smacked he was.

Anyway- these guys come highly recommended from me. If you want their details just PM as I don't want to upset Flash Remapping as a sponsor but splatting their name all over this thread.

PS I will post additional info over time like gains in 0-60 time (measured via torque pro) and any changes in my average MPG

I Just have a mild map 175hp. This car is going to my daughter in a year or 2 so don't want to get a lot of power in it.

Sensible plan unlike my mate who has given his RS4 with 507 BHP to his girlfriend as her first car- I pointed it out to him and he said it drives dead smoothly. Why oh why would you let someone without much road confidence straight from a test into a 507BHP beast? Guess the common sense fairy kind of passed him by <shakes head>

Nice gains mate. You can say where you had it done and how much it's just they can't advertise without paying. Other tuners have been mentioned on the site like Burbage etc

yes once you put miles on your car mpg will go up enjoy.
