Pair of Chinese on the front, and tyres made by Michelin on the back (They came with the wheels I bought) - but that sets going soon- prob put the Bridgestones on my Team Dynamic go pro;s
My Tamuras, maybe Toyos- they still get good write up for the price of £82 a corner- not as good as the Pilots. But have a week or 2 make my mind up

      • Ive gone for Pirelli P Zero Nero GT, read some good reviews and apparently a massive improvement over the older PZero's.

Tyre manufacturers recommend that the better tyres be on the back, as less grip on the front will lead to understeer, less grip on the back will result in oversteer which is less easy to control (allegedly!).

However, assuming they are the same make of tyre, I'd dispute the logic of that argument - the newer tyres don't necessarily grip better than the old ones. Drivers in race championships which specify MSA List 1a, i.e. road legal tyres, often shave new tyres down to 3mm as that is the tread depth that gives the best grip.

I prefer to have the best tyres on the front for no other reason than the fronts are the ones that will wear faster.

              • Got to say Camskils have good prices, but good deals are usually out of stock
Will take a look at the Goodyears thanks - but tyres are mind boggling

Tyre place said get ones that other same car users recommend. That's set me back LOL

Pretty much u get what u pay for I expect

ed: Theres 2 Goodyear F1s....one don't look much, the other asymmetric looks good.
Its good grip in dry AND wet I'm looking for, that's why don't want budget tyres. Some are good in dry but rotten in wet

                • Ignore the looks and go for performance...more important
                  F1's
                  or
                  Michelin
                  or
                  Continental SC 5's

                  • Looks AND performance is much better LOL

What I meant one "Don't look much" was grip in wet was not good, nor dry that good either

ed- Then I have to decide whether to get Winter tyres. Whats best for them? Cheapest new, or a used set, and what price ?

                      • When I have purchased the summer tyres for my new rims (£500 Michelins I suspect) am considering going the whole hog on also get a set of winter tyres for a spare set of rims (The Bellones will be tyreless)

But cant spend to much obvs- so is it best to get the cheapest brand new set of winters, or better quality second hand set off an auction site?

If cheap new ones- then which ones? Cheapest new Ive found so far is £90 a corner

                        • Cheapest tends to be poor in terms of grip/performance for Summer Tyres
ALWAYS go for Premium brands if you can..However, because you need 8 tyres..4 summers and 4 winters
I would buy premium summer tyres and budgetish winters...like Hankook, Nexen or Khumo
I have Khumo (KW27)winter tyres and they are going on again for the 4th Winter!!
My Summer tyres are Continental Sport Contact 5's
On the DS3 SWMBO has Bridgestone Potenzas and Bridgestone Blizzak Winter Tyres on Steel wheels

                          • Cheers again Robbo- will go see how low priced I can get a budget set of winters
Then see how low can get them off ebay 2nd hand

                            • I would never buy a second hand tyre..but each to their own
Camskill are the cheapest IMO..but then you will have to pay £10 a corner to get them fitted
                              Good luck

                              • Didn't realise you could fit a 215 width tyre on a 7j rim. OEM are 205 width
Are the pros (Grip) better than the cons (Cost, aquaplaning)

Have now got Winter tyres fitted to my Bellones, and the Potenzas to my Team Dynamics (This debate persuaded me to try Winters)
Just deciding whether to stick with Michelin Pilot Sport 3s for my main set, or maybe go to 215s over 205s
