Ah well, so long as the floor don't sink when you park in it, alls fine
Trying to create another hard stand place outside of mine. Was quoted loads (£2000 I think) just to put hardcore down and tarmac over it
Gonna park on the existing surface (Slabbing) for a while, to see if it sinks

My other hardstand space isn't that level. Can remove 3 wheels.....but not the fourth LOL(Whichever way its parked- engine weight etc)

ed- Zack. Do you know if planning or any permissions needed to put an awning, or whatever they are called, over a hard stand at the side of a house. Can neighbour have a moan up? Just to be able to work on the car if its raining yer know......

There's loads of information on planning permissions on Google, I use it a lot for stuff I don't know

Maybe not straight away but that over time it will definitely sink. Tarmac and readymix concrete without any base or sub-compaction just don't go well together. Concrete slab on top of tarmac is the worst option as it's so heavy. I just hope Andy sells on before it does happen as it won't be a cheap repair. Andy - I'd definitely get some form of guarantee or even keep a 6 - 12 month retention sum from the 'builder' for the project. You'll have something to fall back on if it goes wrong. If the slab gets damaged the cost to rip it up and cart it away = £££. If there's any other Civil Engineers or Surveyors on the forum they'll agree with me on this.

As long as the awning isn't encroaching on their property or blocking too much sunlight from entering their garden (I know, ridiculous right ?) I believe that they don't require any formal planning or permission as they're not a ground-based free-standing structure. Might be a good idea just to chat with your neighbour about your plans.

Cheers Zack. Much better asking someone in the know, than trawl the "google" button
