He has texted you - hardly the most formal or professional form of correspondence.

Has he supplied any evidence to support his claim it was you driving at the time, or that he has been fined in the first place.

If he wants, he can take you to the Small Claims Court IF he can afford the time to do so. End of the day he instructed you to, or at least failed to notice you were in a bus lane.

I would write to him (no text, email or phone call) and tell him you will not pay and are considering reporting him to the Governing Body for poor practice.

Good advice above As a bare minimum I'd be looking for evidence of the fine, letter, dates times etc

Once you have that you can ask him why he paid it without notifying you (I suspect he knew he was at fault) and giving you the chance to contest it.

        Good luck

There will be some form of governing body, this may not be the first time the Instructor has done this either.

With anything like his, keep all correspondence, be factual and keep all emotion out.

An instructor does just that - he instructs ! He would have told you where to drive/turn/stop etc and if he knows his area then it is his responsibility to know where you cannot drive.

Even with proof I wouldn't pay it.

                New instructor time?

If this one doesn't know not to drive in bus lanes when they're in use god knows what other bad habits you may be picking up..

You passed your test last week, yes? That means you don't need to have any more dealings with him anyway. Tell him you refuse to pay it, delete his number and carry on lol

Well he went away from Monday just gone so chose not to say anything till then. Going to be asking for a copy of the pcn. Then probably explain that I am not happy he paid and took away my right to appeal etc. MIGHT offer to pay half.

By doing that you are admitting at least part responsibility, this could bite you in the ass as he could then contest the fine and any points he may of got. Report him to the Governing Body that he is pressurising you for money, if he continues then report him to the police.

I wouldn't offer to pay half, as discussed before he's taken away any right you had to appeal by paying it, make him provide all the evidence first, I still don't know why he did that
