What has been changed is the previous owner blacked out the chrome on the bottom half of the front grille. Makes it look a bit more aggressive
I don't think it has been Ben mate. IIRC - the earlier models didn't have a full chrome grille surround, only the top half was chrome, the bottom half was all black....I think.
Early DS3's didn't have the full chrome surround as standard as they do on the recent pre facelift ones. Just looks to me like it doesn't have the bottom grill surround rather than it being blacked out 😊
But first releases had the bottom surround coming down from the chevron trim as an option. Thought it was standard on the DSport though....

Regarding the grille trim, interesting points - I never noticed, and I do like it, from what I have found by searching. From what I could see using Google images, a lot of early 10 plate DSports didn't have it, but curiously, the later (**60) '10 plates, do! Is the trim available as a retrofit or have I just asked for unobtainium?
Ooooooh, I missed mentioning that I REALLY like the latter rear light clusters, so they too are on the list of small 'mods', although, I could maybe see why doing that to an early car makes it... well... not standard, and I do prefer keeping models as they should be... but, those clusters are brilliant (and blimmin' expensive :O )

Not sure on this tbh, but alot of the members on here have either plasti-dipped or wrapped their chrome grille surrounds in black and it does look good. It's all down to personal choice really. I like the chrome chevrons and grille surround on mine and will be leaving it as it is (although I have put a Zunsport grille on), but if you look at BenS's - he has had his front grille done look like an Evo and the results are excellent.
The chrome is available as an accessory, but it doesn't go all the way round since your number plate bar goes edge to edge, unlike the later models where there is a gap either side for the full chrome trim.
Citroen lists it as £83, but you can probably find it for half that on ebay

Haha it is my favourite thing I've done, followed closely by my seats.
There's several ways you can go about it:
3M vinyl wrap, best done by a pro since it's a fiddly area
Plastidip - like peelable spray paint which doesn't affect the paintwork underneath
Respray, which is the most expensive option but looks the best IMO. For £240 I got all the chrome plus the plastic hexagon grille sprayed gloss black and my fog caps sprayed red.
