  • Chrome cover plate for driver's resting foot?

Just received our Sport Red DS Sport and it looks the biz. But something struck me soon after we collected it - there's no protective cover for the driver's resting (left) foot, just carpet. I can see this area will get spoiled and worn quite quickly so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get a stick on/other protective cover to protect the carpet on the foot plate, ideally a chrome plate to match the pedals.

There's an aluminium footrest listed as a Citroen accessory - part No 9646H1

Footrest is an optional extra which citroen fail to tell you,

There is a previous post about this if it helps at all.

            Thanks DaveB and Clarky

HerbyDS3 and above - don't suppose any of you know if the one HerbyDS3 tried to fit is the official Citroen accessory which HerbyDS3 says isn't a good fit. And can it be stuck/velcro'd on as opposed to drilling?

I work for Citroen parts and it was the genuine accessory i got. its got rubber backing so i dont see why you cant put velcro down to be honest with you.

Thanks for the info HerbyDS3. So I guess then that if it can't be modified (if as you say it overhangs and looks naff) it's not worth pursuing then? But then again I suppose anything is better than nothing especially if the driver rests his/her foot and wears the carpet out?! Do you know how much one costs?

We are all MISSING the metal footplate on our DSPORT's as there should be one included as standard as per every DS3 brochure. The brochure clearly states there is one in DSPORT models and even gives a picture. This was the case in the brochure when the car was launched and EVERY brochure since. As such they cannot argue it is out of date and no longer standard spec for the car.

I pick my car up on 1st September and will be straight on to Citroen for a footplate - followed by trading standards IF they refuse.

Read the disclaimer on the back of the brochure!

                        Guys

I'm well aware of the disclaimer BUT in this case they persist in advertising the DSPORT is equipped with a footplate and NO attempt has been made to update the brochure to the contrary. In short they have made no endevour to ensure it was accurate when it went to press. They have NOT modified the car AT ALL or changed any detail but have simply failed to equip it as advertised. They can't do that.

I'll let you know when I get my footplate.

I've decided to email Citroen UK via their Contact Us page to (politely) ask why they continue to advertise that the DS3 comes with a footplate (as some have reported here) when clearly it doesn't. Suggest others who feel equally agrieved do the same quoting the fact they are members of the DS3 Owners Club. You never know it might add some weight.

If you don't ask you don't get.

The answer to this is simple: the reason why Citroen don't fit the aluminium footrest as standard on RHD DSports is because IT DOES NOT FIT!!

If you look at pics of LHD cars, the platform to the left of the clutch pedal is wider than on RHD cars. The Citroen footrest works fine on LHD cars - but they have not seen fit to produce a narrower version to fit the RHD cars. If you buy one, as HerbyDS3 did, you will find that it is too big, and that it overlaps the platform.

So, my take on this is, why waste your energy arguing that you should have been given a footrest that doesn't fit anyway! Inevitably you will be met with the standard disclaimer, as DaveB and Mr-T have pointed out, so it's not worth wasting your breath.

In time, someone will produce an after-fit footrest that DOES fit the RHD models, and that'll be one to go for. You'll probably have to wait until hell freezes over for Citroen to produce one.

Sorry if this sounds negative - just injecting a dose of realism.
