  • Bonnet vent modification

Theres a lot of heat under that bonnet when youve been giving your DS3 a fair old spin round the block, or track, and it needs to go asap for best performance. Hot air into engine not good for performance, cold/ cooler than surrounding (the engine) much better.

After a non too supportive comment from a long standing member on here, which seems to have been removed, thought I would share what I did to remove this hot air, to let other members decide on whether it looks pants or not. Pre-fabricated vents are not available specifically for the DS3 bonnet as yet, as there is only a very small area they can be fitted on the bonnet, as the majority is double skinned for safety purposes.

Even if it isnt the prettiest, i do notice a better top end performance and thats what its all about for me.

A lot of peeps have been very complimentary, but what do you think? Quite like it myself, and certainly gets attention

There are still a few more considerations for my bonnet, altho number one is get a DA Polisher. LOL

It certainly makes your car unique! Love the roof on yours, and did I see your car at FCS? but displayed by your alter-ego.

I agree Oli it looks awful, but anyone can bodge mod their car if they want. If the DS3 needed vents I'm sure Citroen would be all over it

Thats a good idea Arn. The air is soooo hot after a good pedal to the metal session.
Seems a bit more work than cutting a couple holes tho LOL.

                        Will watch with interest.

You take yours round the track?

Ed- was thinking of raising my bonnet at the front for more "Thru" air (but would probly fly off), and maybe even tinker with the front grill for more air to get in. Then theres always the foglights as on the Rally car........

Looks OK but don't think I'd be doing it.

If you really want lots of air, you could go for something like this.

Hats off for the effort, I wouldn't have the guts to chop open a fairly new car! Personally I would've gone for a plain style though, just a rectangle or something.
