Thanks THP- cars would be very boring if some us didnt try experimenting. It is a spare bonnet TBH. Picked it up for £100, in same colour as the car. Cant be bad price to have a little play ;-) Was going to do plain squares, which I could still do, and was considering just one strip either side. Could add an oblong to the middle too, if wanted.

Thanks Dan. Go for it- try something. Might not be great but at least you would have tried. Reversible is good though. Roof decals are through CUK who fitted them for me too.

Proper vents would look better instead of holes cut in the bonnet with chicken wire on them.

think i looked at them and couldnt get them to fit. Vents were angled the wrong way too
Searched for pre-formed manufactured vents for quite a while to be honest, bout 4 months - none of them fit

Hope you have better luck Gaz

I think they look ok, in the flesh might be different though. What's the impact on the engine during/after a good downpour.

You are right about the amount of heat the engine produces, I may look at ducting some air in from a clean source (taking into account water ingress obviously).

Theyre not too bad in the flesh. The edges are very slightly uneven in places, but I aint no panel beater
If still like them in 6 month, may get the bonnet professionally finished or wrapped anyways.

Have some magnetic covers for the rain which work well. Bonnet was only for summer use, hopefully less rain than winter
With the pistons going in some in the early days, my feeling is partly down to massive heat build up with tuned cars, higher output engines- so anything to get that heat away will help

May be even better to drive in the winter, thinking bout it :-)

I think vents would look less conspicuous on a darker body colour maybe. Cant wait to get back to my wee grey beastie

You try and source a DS3 WRC Bonnet they have vents built in.
                                http://www.zercustoms.com/news/image...-DS3-WRC-1.jpg
The R5 also have the vents but usually covered up.

R1/R3 don't seem to have vents so the theory of extra heat maybe a myth or the wing can take it anyhow.

Think the BMW Cooper S/JCWs are the only THP models to have a scoop on the bonnet though not sure if that was put there for cooling or air induction.
