From what I understand Toxic, some WRC DS3s have more subtle venting down by the grille and fog light area. Obvs my position was to not break the bank in putting my own slant on the issue. The vents in the link you provide wouldnt suit a road car imo, and would have taken a lot effort to cut in.

After 20 mins on the track and the bonnet is open, the heat is worse than an oven door opening, and as previously said, with some pistons breaking down in the past, its felt that heat needs to go as soon as possible, as it may contribute to that breaking down. Even if CUK havent considered this, its worth a go.

The Mini JCW is only an intake, and not to vent air out, and air out was my primary concern. My thoughts were that air into the engine bay was already dealt with, but am having a rethink on that with the additional bonnet vents now working. Especially if a Forge intercooler is fitted at a later stage.

My torque pro app shows a real reduction in air intake with the vents in. That must help

Looks OK, personally I prefer the more raked style of vents a bit like the ones on the MK2 Focus RS, but I can see the need for letting the heat out of the engine bay, the THP engine gets amazingly hot, even if you are just gliding around!

the engine does get really hot under the hood- vents are a good idea
having seen these in the flesh they work pretty good and dont look to bad at all.
not too obtrusive, but would be worried bout rain

You can fit these all over your bonnet, you still won't keep up with my slow diesel tractor

What have you done to secure that the water isnt running into the engines wiring ?

It looks to me that the wiring for the injection is right under there..

Anyways i think it makes your car very unique and i like that about it, however its not something i would have done on my own car..

I made this on my girlfriends car..

Thanks for the comments Supermielsen. Was waiting for that question :-)

The bonnet will only be on for the summer months, so hopefully doesnt rain too much (This is a spare bonnet)
When the car is parked up, I have 2 magnetic covers which go over the vents.

They are put on also, when its raining heavy, and stay on well over 100mph

Light rain , due to the heat coming out the vents, doesnt make an impact on the engine- it evaporates

Yours (On your girlfriends lol) looks fab

I will also point out the the job you have done seems GREAT, you have made them 100% similar and thats not an easy thing to do..

But great that you are taking care of the rain, i know that some citroëns have a big problem with water coming in places it isn't supposed too and that can really ruin a car faster than you can blink..

Thanks- just a bit of fun really. It took quite some time to measure and get them the same as most of the bonnet is double skinned, which i didnt want to cut into.

But it does help with air intake temperature, as these vents take away hot air
Would like more air coming into engine bay, so that must be a central scoop, or holes down by front grill (Spotlight removal?)

Actually i have had my car on the dyno a thousand times.. ! And one of the things you can see clearly every time is the high inlet temperatures..
So one of the best things you can do is actually build an induction kit for your car, get a universal intercooler, or move the existing one to the front.. !
It will increase mileage and horsepower.. !

For someone who can cut perfect holes in his bonnet surely can make an induction kit.. ! :P

^ Induction kit is very high on the list- waiting on another member who is making one, to see how he gets on, and may copy
Bigger Intercooler is next year round April :-)

You could channel air into existing intercooler, without moving it. Not sure yet.

They may look perfect in the photo.... but not quite
Good enough for me though, and if i like next year, will get professionally finished

There is a big advantage in just moving it, or simply buy a universal one that fits in the front..

It's a very easy job on a ds3.. There is WAAAAY to much space in the front and it simply doesn't make sense why they placed their intercooler so shitty..

Morten T on her created a very good induction kit himself, the way he build it is clearly the smartest way on here..
