  • Im confused, why would you want a single pass over a dual pass intercooler?

    • Dual pass means the air coming out duct , is passing over the incoming air duct, which has the already warm air in it
Therefore the exit of the cooler air, would be warmed u a bit again

Mind you, with single pass, the exit (Silicone/rubber) pipe has to make its way back to the beginning agagin, warming in the engine bay

You pays yer money, takes yer choice

      • No single pass can have inlet and outlet on same sides too.generally dual pass has a better cooling for air temps on most cars as it passes through the cores twice. Thats why its called dual pass, i believe allowing further air cooling. dual pass are more money than single pass usually

        • Thats right- dual pass double backs on itself, so the cooled air, passes the warmer intake air, thereby slightly warming it up again
          Single pass are more efficient

          • I would imagine it would make life alot more difficult fitting a single pass to our thp engine with the location of the standard piping, looks like more effort than neccessary to reroute!

Your right, but it can, and has, been done. Hangar 111 is single pass

              • Tradeoffs, always tradeoffs, I agree with you especially with the stock or racing turbo in place. Would not be as bad if changing the turbo also.

                • The good thing about the FORGE Intercooler, whilst its bleeding expensive, is that its such a good fit (So the Forum expert...James... told me)
Bumper off, intercooler straight in and fits, bolt on, bumper back on. Done

                  Just get saving LOL

                  • The Forge one is well worth it, uses absolutely every single bit of free space behind the bumper without any chopping of the cars structural members, and is only 2.5hr job start to finish.
With it fitted IAT has dropped massively.

As soon my car is back form warranty work (Hopefully early June) I'll be heading over for a remap and maybe the intercooler; But I haven't found anyone who has tested it on the Diesel 110 Hdi and seen any noticeable improvement. Has anything changed since last time I posted? :-)

                          • Also there is meanwhile another possibility to get a nice dual pass intercooler: HG-Motorsport from Luebeck/Germany! They are lookalikes to the Forge one but "made in Germany"!

Mine was the prototype and the basic swap for my further mods!
The guys in the workshop are really good! They do the welding and the installation in a really good manner! Dyno run before and after install and they take the wishes and ideas of the customer into their design!
I've made 3 prototype mods there (intercooler, downpipe 200cell cat, 2,5"exhaust) and I always drove home satisfied! Maybe you should check them out, when you consider to make the intercooler mod!
