Coilovers or lowering springs?

There are sets on auction sites with split ride heights, for springs
Coilovers would be great- but such a lot for a vehicle that may be gone in 4 years or less?
Probably £900 supplied and fitted as opposed to £200 supplied and fitted for springs (Saw a set of split ride height springs go for £70 over the last weekend)
Could spend the extra on an intercooler/WMI to make it go faster
And how often is ride height adjusted?
Been told by several people that once they find the right settings, they leave coilovers alone?
Will decide after March- nice to get a decent set of coilovers 2nd hand
Ed: Mind you, with lowering springs you then have the situation that the shocks(Dampers) will collapse a lot quicker, and shortened shocks would have to be purchased at some stageLast edited by Chris_Blue; 30-12-2013, 08:29.sigpicJog on Noddy

im lowered 40mm on FK springs with standard shocks and the ride is terrible, best would be to wait until affordable coilovers are available or stick with standard setup - i drove a standard diesel ds3 and ride was lovely, didnt get any body roll or feel a high driving position at all... as said before could try using 207 coilovers as these will be 51mm strut for a gt/gti model and weight load will surpass that of the ds3 as 207 gti is around 200kg heavier than ds3, just a risk whether they fit or not!

Is that lowered on a DS3 Colganraz?
Ive seen other DS3s lowered, and they certainly look good
And on a track you want the car lower obvs, with all the twists and turns at high speed
Coilovers would certainly be best, but maybe 5 times the cost of springs?
And once adjusted to right height, most people I speak to leave them alone.
And is the cost worth it, if only keeping the car a few years, rather than forever?sigpicJog on Noddy
