Okay as far as I'm now led to believe if you are having this issue you should go back to your dealer for a software update to be done, this can take upwards of 4 hours to complete though so book a day off....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

Afraid not - DS 3 has a SMEG unit, DS 4 a SMEGi+V2 - and even if they were the same, the VIN has to be correctly configured in CORVET (the build database) for the update to be available....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

Hmm, the smeg vs smegi+v2 bit doesn't really correlate with what I've read (albeit in French via Google Translate!). What I've read seems to be saying anything running a version 6.x firmware is the smegi+v2 - and that once updated to version 6.1.D.R8 car play just needs to be selected as active in the coding system. Of course it may well be that it won't be possible on UK cars regardless of hardware yet. Anyhoo, Dealer has said they'll have a good look and I've sent them screen shot of relevant coding page for reference so fingers crossed.
To be fair I'd be happy if it just stayed switched on at this point!
