Regarding costs, I would estimate in total (including oils, tools, parts, labour) we are somewhere around 3k.
I was lucky with my failure as it did only damaged the piston itself, cylinder walls were as good as new. I can't imagine owning a THP (at least a Racing or tuned 15x) anymore without forged internals, the stock Mahle's are made out of paper. Regarding other mods, IC upgrade drops intake temps by 100%, can't hurt? OCC and PCV block are controversy topics and I am not going to start a war here, some people prefer them, some don't. Powerflex mount directs more engine vibration into cabin, didn't notice anything else, matter of taste. Forge spacer is just a nice-to-have, except if you rise boost (max 1.6 bar) as I did (should save turbo).
You don't have pump E85 there, but it burns cleaner, sustains pressure better and is cheaper.
Mudflaps are nice, they reduce the amount of stones hitting doors and sides.
